Living Free - June 16, 2008

Life in New Hampshire is nice. That is all.

living without the net - March 11, 2008

there are some that said it can't be done... but i'm doing it. i'm also living without hot water, central heat, a stove and other such propane-related amenities. so if that doesn't explain my lack of communication, nothing will...

i'm still here and kicking and breathing and making the best out of an otherwise impossible situation. i'm looking at this past winter as an experiment (tho it is hardly over), and maybe i'll publish my findings here, in my own journal. living an otherwise pilgrim lifestyle in a world that is anything but. it's kind of fun in certain ways - to know that i am living the exact opposite as what is perpetuated through the media. i'm no hollywood socialite. i'm no belle of the ball. i don't have the luxury of being difficult, stubborn, lazy or superficial. i have to work for my heat, i have to be creative with my meals, and above all else, i have to survive mentally while figuring out the next step.

so something weird brought me to NH, and now i'm here wondering what it is that i'm here for.

show coming up with Randy Patrick and Ros Bobos at the Zoloft in New Ipswich. More on that soon, and the details to follow on my "live" page.

even with the lack of a net, i'm going to try to do more now than ever. i just need a little more creativity, and luckily, that is something i've never had a shortage of before...

Old Year and New - December 30, 2007

to say the least, 2007 brought changes up the wazoo. i have moved myself and all operations (music, recording, etc) to western NH - winchester to be exact. i'll be honest... it was hard. i had a fairly comfy life back in fitchburg, and i completely uprooted to come up here and be a part of what i hope is an amazing project. sometimes you've just got to "do it", even if "it" is scary and lonely initially.

in Moving Pictures news, we've finally FINISHED the new album, "the Age of Reason", and I listened to the final mixes last night. whoa. if you like what we've done so far, i think that you are really going to like this album. visit our BLOGSPOT for more info as we have it.

bigbigBIG shout-out to Drew Thilmany for the super-amazing job he did recording and mixing MP. seriously, this guy is the shit.

so the focus shifts... back to making music instead of moving. i've stopped moving as much in general, and am in the process of setting up a show space for accoustic shows here in the house. in my bedroom, no less. i will keep posted about that. in the meantime, please come visit me! i'll show you the house and cook you a meal on the ol' hickory (that's my little woodstove). and we can laugh about 2007 and moon 2008 from my window.

happy new year, everybody.

busy and then this other thing... - November 22, 2007

more soon and better. in the meantime, go HERE for some stuff and we'll catch up later. ok?

September Update - September 10, 2007

The shows with Drew were awesome - big thanks to the Monkey House Bar in Winooski Vt, the Bike Barn in Falmouth Maine and all the cool cats that we met on the way. Everyone was super and I had a great time.

Nothing in the way of shows coming up soon - I am beginning the arduous process of moving out of my residence for the last 5 years and in to a boarding house in Winchester, NH. It's sweet - Patty Keough and I will be living in/rennovating the space in to a working tour stop between Keene, NH and Brattleboro, Vt. It's 3 floors and really big and old and you can look at it here. Gah! I'm excited - we're moving in November 1 and I'll keep you posted as to the plans.

Also, I'm selling my Fender Jaguar - it's a Japanese re-issue with a tremolo. Email me if you are interested: jentri@jentrijollimore.com.

more soon!

Late News and OLotK Blips - August 14, 2007

I am currently burning 500 copies of Our Lady of the Kitchen - yes, it is actually DONE. for real this time, not just in theory. ding. it's pretty sweet if I do say so myself (and i do!) and will be on sale at the upcoming shows.

now, here's the scoop: every cd is hand stamped and sealed and, as such, is an imperfect medium. there is the risk that the cd may skip or blip (particularly on the last track). tho i've checked all as meticulously as i can, in the event that you are here reading this because you are pissed that your cd skips, just shoot me an email with your address and i will mail you a new one. (girl) scouts honor. bam.

in other news, i'll be on a little stint with drew thilmany and tumbling tumbleweeds. go here for more info about that...

the band that i am in, moving pictures, has recorded an album. i don't know when it will be done, but it will be and when it is, it will be great. if you are like me and just can't wait to hear a track, go here and listen to our demo, "the age of reason". That song will be on the new cd, but re-recorded. (you can also hear tracks from OLotK too.)

ding.

only 482 to go. all hand stamped and hand numbered. you lucky duck.

more soon and for real and i promise..... jentri

new stickahs - March 16, 2007

check em out! should be done in about 8 weeks:

Big Thanks to Jordan for the sweet design!

OUR LADY OF THE KITCHEN - March 5, 2007

the nelson tapes will be an album and the name of the album shall be OUR LADY OF THE KITCHEN. 14 tracks, all recorded alone on 4 track on tollman pond road in Nelson. the son of the renegade and myself mixed everything down about a week ago. all thats left is a touch of mastering here and there and it will be ready for your little ears. it is not like anything that i have ever recorded before, and i'm very excited for people to hear it.

in other news i have t-shirts! here's the design:

thanks to VO who designed and produced them.
they come in assorted colors.
3 different shades of blue.
100% cotton.
pre washed/shrunk.
$10.

deep in the heart of nelson - February 13, 2007

brief brief. was in the woods all weekend alone (well, i had a dog there) and i think i recorded a new album. i have to listen to the tapes again - done all on 4 track, all by meself. so we shall see.

when i say gONZALES you say - January 20, 2007

Gonzales gONZALES is back! same lineup but with half of the previous recording values. we made a new album last week called "celebrating sunday on a saturday nite" and i just think that it is dyn-o-mite. still needs artwork but that shall come. i think we are going to post the entire album for free on this here website, for a limited time. maybe. we shall see.

in other news i have started playing with Moving Pictures in Rindge NH and if i do say so myself it is going swimmingly.

i screwed the pooch and blew it regarding New York this weekend. no bitter end dates until april.

thats about that. bon nuit.

the MASON sessions - December 30, 2006

as you may or may not know, emerson, the son of the renegade, and myself had one glorious day whilst housesitting in MASON NH to record in a house with great accoustics. what came out of that was a tape and a half of noise and musical chickens and saxrecorded in a wooden stairwell. i've lovingly (and tentatively) dubbed it 'rock barnyard', as homage to the great ROCK JUNGLE. this was no jungle, but it sure had a lot of animals in it... as for us, we dined on frozen pizza and ol' grandad and found the most interesting things around the barnyard to make noise with. i think our favorite was the creak of the two doors on a smoker in the back yard. (due to power supply and cord length restrictions it could only be mic'd by draping the microphone right on the metal. the resulting sound was a cross between eerily beautiful and nails-on-chalkboard.) tho the improvised diggery-doo (poor improvisation, tho it was) flagpole was a close second.

Radio Bats is no longer Radio Bats and is now Necktie Party. tho if you go on the myspace it is still Radio Bats tho it says necktie party. you follow? i don't. in any case, i am no longer a part of it except in memory and instead will be pursuing a musical relationship with two former members of death to tyrants. more on that to come.

it is snowing here for the first time and i think i'm gonna warm up my toes then make some music. or play fetch with my cat.

HAPPYNEWYEAR

food. hooray! - November 23, 2006

i am thankful for food. i love regional food (i am currently cooking a cornbread in cast iron). i love foreign food (i have recently enjoyed the pleasures of marzipan, stollen and chocolate covered spekulatius cookies). i am thankful that i always have food, and that it is good food.
i am thankful for the interesting and talented people that come thru my life on a regular basis. good people, who care about what they do in their lives and how they do it. unique people that i am constantly learning different things from. my families that are very important to me.
I am thankful that i still have hands and feet (to make music with), and a roof over my head. i am thankful that i have a good job working for someone who respects and values what i bring to my position, even if that position is just working in a retail store. i am thankful for tobacco because i still enjoy smoking. i am thankful for rosemary because it is my favorite herb. i am thankful for coffee (good QUALITY coffee...never a drive thru) and tea and all the stimulants big and small that keep life interesting on a daily basis. i am thankful for synapse firing and geetar strings and Stravinsky.

but mostly i'm thankful i'm alive to see it all.

happy thanksgiving.

Radio Bats and Cutting Hair - November 1, 2006

The Radio Bats album is "in the can" as they say... I would say it's finished, but they always say something different. Many many thanks to the unending dedication of The Son of the Renegade for his tireless work and cheery disposition. I will be recording a new solo album with him in the coming months, but more on that soon. It's still in it's incubation period, but I can tell you that it will be pretty upbeat.

Fun as they say...

I will be posting a song or two from the new album shortly for your downloading pleasure. Until then you can visit us at our *cringe* myspace page to get your fix.

In other news, I am going to cut off my hair soon. All 10+ inches will be donated to Locks of Love, so that my last 3 years of growing will not be in vein. What can I say? I just don't think that I'm cut out for long hair (no pun intended) - it is too much work fer this wash n' go girl.

Sent the "demo of a demo" to New York last month. I just heard word back that he "loved it", so hopefully I will be returning to the city to re-record in the coming months. I will keep you posted... In the meantime, I will post a song or two from that album as well.

So that's about it. Happy November!

octoberphile - October 14, 2006

it's hard to be inspired when you don't look up once in a while. routine in, routine out. not only is it easy to get stuck in these patterns, it's often encouraged. when i was younger people said i'd go far. now that i am older, they are wondering when i'm going to settle down, get something steady.

i'm turning 27 in less than a month. i guess i'm pretty ambivilent about it. one more year. just over a quarter of a century down and little to show for it other than a bum leg and a handful of cd's. actually, i don't have a bum leg.

the band is going well - we are called Radio Bats. we're on myspace, that big useless wasteland keeping me in touch with people that i had long lost. i really loathe Rupert Murdoch. just wanted to throw that in there.

i'm going to record a new album. been werkin on some stuff here and there. routine in..

routine out.

only a lip where a moustache should be.... - May 2, 2006

gONZALES gONZALE S is no more....

before you start weeping inconsolably in to your He-Man pillowcase, let me rejoice you with some good news. there is a new band that promises to be the GREATEST BAND EVER. the former members of gONZALES gONZALES have teamed with a renegade das happening-er, and a moon patrol fury. what does that equal? well, we don't have a name yet, so I am just referring to the new creative force as THE GREATEST. tonight marks the first anniversary of our first practice, and we promise to follow it up with a great second practice. after all, we are THE GREATEST. in any case, there is still jentri solo stuff to do, so that will be done. have no fear. in fact, I have a couple of shows coming up this month in NH, so you should check it out and come out and see me before THE GREATEST takes over and I am too good to talk to you anymore.

sick suck - April 18, 2006

new york made me sick. new york made me sick retroactively and now i'm back and doing again. also working, which is a drag. in any case, in the coming months i'll be back in new york doing some recording for a new 3-song demo. always doing. gONZALES gONZALES will be out of mourning shortly and back at it as the weather turns warm. more home recordings soon.

here i am - March 19, 2006

and i'm glad.

"MAGNET THEORY + unfinished ideas" is done... most of what i wanted to do but as best as i'll a'ever get. anyway, if you think the skips are intentional you apparently haven't ... the point is, i'd give it to you if you'd listen. this box doesn't understand.

Got fired? - March 14, 2006

Yes, I got fired. From a crappy waitressing job, that had nothing to offer. I was talked down to by the customers, and continually berated by my Greek bosses. The one time that I decided not to take their crap, I was 'dishonorably discharged'. Now you tell me, would you be upset?

Makes for a great story tho.

Anyway, it frees up more time for what is truly important to me. And I've got exciting news.

I'm back down to NYC on Sunday for another 'quickie' at the Bitter End. (I don't care what anyone says, 15 minutes on that stage beats 4 hours anywhere else...) The Monday following I am going to do a test recording in the West Village. which will eventually become a new demo in the coming months.

In addition, I will be releasing the lost Florence mASSters after all. It still won't be finished or mastered but someday I will re-make this album to its true vision - sans skips. So it is looking at this moment to be 5 or 6 tracks, with a separate single for the live tracks. This probably means disecting Commercial/Residential - or at least re-working it a bit. I don't know... What I DO know, is that if I don't release this I'm a fool - at least that is what Das Drew says. He's the reason that I a releasing it, so you can all thank him.

I am also going to release some home recordings, but more on that a bit later.

So who needs waitressing? Fuck that noise. Let 'em get their own damn coffee.

In Memoria - February 6, 2006

our namesake is gone - but his memory lives on.
